Gwen Wunder: A Woman Of Valor

I am struggling to find the words that would adequately express my gratitude to have known and worked with Gwen. Weaving words together in an articulate and meaningful way was one of one of Gwen’s many talents. I so hope I can do her justice with my own words. I have been blessed to know Gwen throughout most of my career which now spans over three decades. Gwen knew me when I was just a little “pisher” (Yiddish for kid) and there is no way that I can pay tribute to her without the use of this language which was a common bond we shared and understood (she, case far better than I.) In fact the Yiddish language and culture was in many ways the depths of our communication and understanding when discussing real estate, politics, the community and more importantly our friends and families. I remember so many fund-raisers, campaigns and articles that we worked on together toward a common cause.

Gwen had such honor, integrity, wisdom and humor. Gwen, I will remember you as a “Woman of Valor”. A woman who brought about change in the world with her wisdom but did not want the attention on her, her strength was internal and those who were blessed to know her are better just for having known her. I am one of those blessed souls for having known you Gwendolyn and I will deeply miss sharing our very guttural Yiddish humor every time we went to press and sharing heartfelt laughter. I shall remember you my dear friend who did not like the spotlight on you in this lifetime knowing that it is “bashert” (meant to be) that the eternal light will continue to shine on you always with love “Olav HaShalom’ (rest in peace).
